The Retailer Health Ratings (RHRs)

Retailer Health Ratings Because we believe that a retailer’s health is dependent on much more than its comparable store sales growth performance or its net earnings, Consensus evaluates retailers using various metrics to illustrate health over four components:

Healthy Growth
Asset Utilization
Pricing Power
Balance Sheet Strength

Using a complex array of formulae, we rank publicly traded retailers in each of these categories and, using a proprietary weighting formula, determine each retailer’s relative overall health and assign them a RHR rank in accordance with the weighted scores.

The Consensus RHR is intended to provide relative guidance to all stakeholders in a retail organization with insight into the positioning and overall health of the subject organization. While our RHR methods are currently proprietary, we expect to publish our methods and the ratings during 2009.
